Bombing suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev, who was shot and killed by police early in the morning April 19, 2013, is seen in a photo essay about his boxing career shot in 2009 in Allston, Massachusetts.
Tamerlan, 26, was originally from Chechnya and a boxer. He was the subject of a photo essay by Johannes Hirn called “Will Box for Passport,” comprised of photos taken before Tamerlan participated.

In January 2012, Tamerlan Tsarnaev traveled to Russia and after six months returned to the United States in July 2012. Details of his visit remain scanty but FBI officials at the United States Embassy in Moscow report that before his father Anzor Tsarnaev arrived in Russia later in May 2012 he spent time with other family members in Makhachkala.
The second suspect to be named in the Boston Marathon bombing has been identified as 26-year-old Tamerlan Tsarnaev, who was reported shot and killed Thur.
That photo essay has since been taken down, but Tamerlan told the photographer at the time that he didn’t have “a single American friend.” Still, he expressed hope that he would someday represent.
